This Backdraft—BDR chassis# 187—has been extensively modified and set up as a track day/autocross car. It corners in excess of 1.0 g, and laps in the high 1:50s on the California Speedway 'roval' course.

• Ford Racing 427 cid/529 horsepower engine, built by Smeding Performance
• Holley Street Avenger 770 cfm carburetor with electric choke
• crankshaft: 4340 steel, lightweight non-twist forging, micro-polished and chamfered,
  internal balanced, 4.000" stroke
• rods: #4340 steel "H" beam with 7/16" ARP cap bolts, 6.200" length
• pistons: lightweight forged, reverse dome, 10.2:1 compression, with wristpin below oil ring
• rings: low-friction single moly 1/16" x 1/16" x 3/16"
• camshaft: custom-ground hydraulic roller, 0.544"/0.573" lift 238/248 duration @0.050"
• rocker arms: 1.6 ratio, full roller to reduce friction
• intake: Edelbrock Victor Jr.
• cylinder heads: Smeding/AFR, 205cc Intake port, fully C.N.C. ported, 2.08"/1.60" valves
• Canton 7-qt. oil pan
• MSD ignition & coil, Pertronix distributor

• Ford Performance clutch with lightweight flywheel
• McLeod steel bellhousing
• TKO600 5-speed transmission with 0.64 overdrive
• shifter moved to mid position for much easier—and faster—shifting
• 3.91:1 limited-slip differential (compare with standard 3:13:1)

• 28 mm (front)/24 mm (rear) aftermarket swaybars virtually eliminate body roll

• Bilstein rear shocks
• four-wheel power disc brakes with Hawk HP Plus pads and Motul high-temperature fluid
• stainless steel brake lines
• reinforced rear trailing arm mounts
• rack & pinion steering

• 17" wheels with Hoosier R-6s for track and autocross use
