Ford 427FE
original cast-iron 1968 engine
C8AE-A, 7F27, #26 (352), rear-end of block #66-427

passenger-side block shot above is hotlinked (same view, much larger size).

Original 1968 cast iron 427FE Cobra powerplant, hydraulic lifters, cross-bolted side-oiler motor. The block is a C8AE-A, 7F27, #26 (352), bellhousing #66-427. This motor includes the original set of cast-iron 6090R heads and an additional set of 68 6090E heads, which have been thermally processed at 600° F and cleansed to absolute perfection. You get your choice of heads when you purchase the engine. Everything has been mag-tested and micrometered by JGM Race & Performance Engineering in Canyon Country, California.

This is the original powerplant from a 1968 427 S/C Shelby Cobra
that was inadvertently destroyed (in ±1980) while the engine
was out of the car; as a result, this engine has been in storage
for these ensuing 3 decades.

(you can see JGM Performance Engineering's inspection measurements in this view)

The bore on this pristine block is standardit has never been bored. The pistons, connecting rods, wrist pins, compression and oil rings are all original. None is scored, nor is there signs of much use. The crankshaft and camshaft are beautiful. The bearings are present, but it would be prudent for you to install new bearings. The block does not need line honing or cylinder boring. She's a beauty and will scream just as she sits.

Also included is a bead-blasted all-aluminum 427-F intake manifold by Edelbrock. This manifold is no longer manufactured and very difficult to obtain. You get the original Holley carburetor (photo below) with the package as well as a K&N chromed air filter assembly, the original oil pan, and the original side-mounted aluminum oil filter adapter.

both valve covers will have been fully polished by the time you read this).

These seldom-encountered early M/T valve covers are offered separately
(contact me for price), and are negotiable with your purchase
of the entire powerplant.

above: JGM Performance Engineering's inspection order of 31 August 2010

All crossbolts, spacers and bearing caps have been reinstalled as factory correct by JGM. I have the receipts for the work completed by JGM and I'm in the process of obtaining verification through the Shelby American Cobra Registry. (This may already be in my possession at the time you read this).

Drop this original Cobra powerplant in your Shelby serpent and augment both your
pride in ownership and the value of your Cobra or Cobra replica.

If your choice is to have this motor professionally reassembled, running and dynoed (at 520 horsepower), that's an option we'll consider for $3,000, plus any additional parts you may wish to include in the rebuild.

All the photos you see above were taken by Curt Scott near Willow Springs International
Raceway
(southern California), on Labor Day, 6 September 2010.
